story – One day in the Mahabharata, the people of Braj were going to worship Devaraja Indra. Then Shri Krishna asked the people, ‘Why is Indra being worshiped?’
The Brajwasis said, ‘Indra is the god of rain. We are farming people. ‘ Then Shri Krishna said, ‘Indra is not the god of rain. Nature gives rain. Indra is the god of his system. That is why one should not worship Indra. ‘
People said, ‘If you do not worship Indra at your instance, then they will get angry.’
Sri Krishna said, “I will protect everyone from Indra.” After this people stopped worshiping Indra. Because of this, Devraj Indra got angry and started raining very fast.
The people of Braj got very scared because of the rain. Then Krishna raised the Govardhan mountain and protected the people. At that time Devraj Indra saw that I rained so much, but there was no loss of Brajwasis. When he came to the earth, he saw that Shri Krishna has lifted the Govardhan mountain on the little finger and all the people of Braj are safe under that mountain.
Indra recognized Shri Krishna and said, ‘Lord, why did you do this? Stopped my worship. ‘
Sri Krishna said, ‘Indra is your job to arrange the rain, but instead of fulfilling your duty, you are expecting to worship yourself. In my view, this is corruption. Indra then apologized to Sri Krishna and returned.
Learning – Our duty should be fulfilled honestly. It is wrong to ever wish to get something extra from someone in return for duty. This world sees our works which are visible, but God knows about our works which are not visible. That is why one should not misuse their authority.
