story – Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was very learned and talented since childhood. He had studied grammar and jurisprudence at the age of 16, he understood all things well. One of his friends was Pandit Raghunath.
Pandit Raghunath was also a scholar. He also studied the scriptures and wrote a treatise on jurisprudence. Pt. Raghunath was confident that his treatise would be liked by all learned people. Its popularity will increase greatly.
Pt. Raghunath knew that my friend Chaitanya is also knowledgeable in the scriptures, so he should be consulted once in relation to my scripture. The two friends were sitting in a boat crossing the river Ganges. At that time Pt. Raghunath said, ‘Friend, I have written this scripture, once you read it and if there is any deficiency then tell it.’
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu said, ‘I too have composed a scripture. First you see my creation. ‘
When Pandit Raghunath read the work written by Chaitanya, he became depressed. Chaitanya asked, “What is the matter, friend?” Why are you sad Is my literature not good? You are not commenting?
Pandit Raghunath said, ‘I have written such a wonderful literature that I felt sad. The truth is that Chaitanya, I have also written literature on the same subject, after reading your work, I have understood that my book will not get any recognition. My hard work will be in vain. ‘
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu took his creation and swept it into the Ganges and said, ‘Just friend, such a thing. Only you will get fame.
Learning – This story has given a message that sometimes in life one has to take drastic decisions of renunciation which become necessary. It was a friend’s sacrifice for a friend. God definitely returns such a sacrifice. Even though Chaitanya did not get fame from that creation, but due to his self-sacrificing nature, he got more fame than Pt. Raghunath. Whenever there is an opportunity to make sacrifices in life, then do sacrifice. When you give something to this world, the creator of the world returns more than that.
