Ravana’s nature in the Ramayana was very arrogant and aggressive. Those who did not speak to his liking, he used to treat them badly. Sita was killed by Ravana and Sri Ram reached Lanka with the monkey army in search of Sita.

Vibhishan wanted to convince his elder brother Ravana not to enmity with Rama. They knew that Ravana could also punish me for what I wanted to say.

Vibhishan told Ravana at the Raj Sabha filled with restraint and humility in words, ‘You return to Sitaji, Ramji will forgive you. It is good for all of us.

The words were very balanced. But, Ravana became aggressive due to his nature and kicked Vibhishan. Even after being kicked, Vibhishan bowed down to his elder brother. This was the humility of his behavior. Vibhishan said, ‘You are mad at me, you have not liked my words, then I leave this place and go. But, I request you to consider my point.

Learning Vibhishan is teaching us that when speaking to a big and arrogant person who is doing wrong things, one should be very careful. Such people can be aggressive. In these situations, we should choose the words very carefully. Each word should have a deep meaning. Also, maintain humility in nature. Even if our point is not accepted, we should not be angry. It may be that at that time the person in front may not understand our point, but one day in future, he will surely understand that it was being said right.
