story- In Sriramcharit Manas, Hanumanji reached Lanka to find Mother Sita. There Vibhishana was done in favor of Shri Ram, gave Shriram’s message to Sita, burnt Lanka, and showed his might to Ravana. After doing such a huge task, Hanumanji returned to Sakushal Shriram.

Even after such a huge success, he stood silent in front of Shri Ram. He knew that he should not praise himself. At that time, Jamwant and Sugriva praised him and told Shriram all that Hanumanji had done in Lanka.

After listening to the whole thing, Shriram also praised Hanumanji, so he held the feet of God and said, ‘Lord do not do this, you should protect me.’ Hanumanji did this because ego does not come on hearing praise.

At that time someone asked Hanumanji, ‘When Shriram was praising, why did you hold his feet?’

Then Hanumanji explained, ‘Whenever someone praises you, your popularity increases then you should offer our success at the feet of God, parents, gurus, as well as the nation who have helped us.’

Learning Whenever we have a great success and people praise us, we should humbly accept it. Be grateful to those who have helped us. Avoid praising yourself, otherwise our nature will start growing ego. Let others do this work.
