story – The Mahabharata war was over. The Pandavas won and Yudhishthira became king. One day Sri Krishna advised all Pandavas to take knowledge of Rajdharma from Bhishma Pitamah. Bhishma was on the bed of the arrows, he was waiting for the sun to pass for his life.
On the insistence of Shri Krishna, Bhishma had explained many things of knowledge to all the Pandavas. One of them was that humility is like jewelery for big and capable people. One symptom is to be suppressed and the other is to bend, due to fear or due to any helplessness. Humility is above both these traits.
Humility is like a virtue voluntarily. To explain this, Bhishma said, ‘When the river reaches the sea, with its flow, it brings many big trees and their branches. One day the sea asked the river why you do not bring small plants and small trees with you.
The river replied that when I flow at full speed, small plants and small trees bow down, giving me the way, they are saved. While big trees do not bow down, if they are stubborn, then they break and I bring them out.
Learning– Bhishma has told with the help of this example that many times adverse situations occur in life. Humility at that time acts like arms and armor. A humble person can do many things in the world by bowing down. While there are only losses due to airs.
