The Chaturdashi date of Krishnapaksha of Kartik month is celebrated as Roop Chaturdashi or Hell Chaudas. According to Skanda Purana, giving a lamp for Yamraj in the evening on this date does not lead to premature death. At the same time, Bhavishya and Padma Purana say that on Chaturdashi Tithi, one should wake up before sunrise and massage Abhyang i.e. oil and bathe the medicine. By doing this, the diseases end and age increases.
Jyotishacharya Pt Ganesh Mishra says that Chaturdashi Tithi will start from around 3 pm on November 13 till 14 in the afternoon of 2 pm. Therefore Yama Deepdan should be done on Friday evening and bathing medicine before sunrise on November 14 will be auspicious.
