This is how you can worship on Shivaratri

In the general worship of Shivji, offer water with a copper pot on the Shivling. Offer milk with a silver pot. Necklaces, sandalwood, janeu, white clothes should be offered. Offer different grains and flowers on Shivling as well. In worship, you can recite the chanting of Shiva.

Akshat means offer rice. Take care not to break the rice. Also offer black sesame, standing moong, barley, wheat, lotus flowers, white lotus.

Do not forget to offer bilvapatra, datura, figure flowers on the Shivling.

Offer sweets to God. Perform aarti by lighting incense and lamps.

Apologize to God for unknown mistakes made in worship. After the puja, distribute the prasad to other devotees and accept it yourself.
