The first festival of Chhath Puja on November 18 was Nahai-Khay. Today is the 19th date. Shopping and preparation are done for the worship of the sixth mother on the day of Kharna. People observing this day worship in a peaceful environment in the evening. Many strict rules are followed to make bhog for Chhath Puja. People making indulgence have to wear new clothes, but do not wear rings in hands.
Kharna is a tradition of worship on the second day of Chhath Puja. If you can buy the goods of Chhath Puja on the day of Nahay Khay then fine, otherwise shopping is done on Kharna day. From the time of Nahai Khaya, the fast is to be eaten in the evening of Kharna. After this, an uninterrupted fast of about 36 hours begins.
There are strict rules for making enjoyment for Chhath Puja
In Kharna, milk pudding is made without sugar at some places, then at some places there is a tradition of offering puri with jaggery kheer. Some places also offer sweet rice. It is offered on a banana leaf. Ripe banana is offered in most areas with puri-kheer.
Kharna Puja is also done in a special way. Once this prasad is ready, time is fixed in the surrounding areas. The time is fixed around 15 minutes and no sound is made during this time. Even children are not allowed to cry.
The fast is to be eaten in the house of worship. If there is a sound while taking food, the vrati’s hands stop there. The leftover food of the fast is also considered as Prasad.
Before taking this prasad, the blessing of the sixth mai is taken and all the people who are younger than the Vrati touch their feet while leaving the offering. They accept their leftovers as offerings. Usually the household members eat these food.
After the meal, wash the plate in such a place where no one can get a foot on the water and do not wash it in other garbage.
Arghya will be offered to the setting sun on the evening of 20 November. On this day, the rules become more strict from the morning itself. In the evening, archaya is offered to asthachalagami i.e. the setting sun.
It is also called Sanjhaka Arga in typical Maithil due to the evening arghya. The things used to make prasad should be satvik. The people of the house who are involved in making prasad, have cut their nails on the day of bathing. If not cut, nails have to be cut and cleaned before entering the house of worship to make offerings.
A separate cloth is to be kept for the place of worship. Those who enter to make offerings can eat food only after they leave. It is mandatory to come in only after making all the arrangements for making prasad or else one has to stay clean and tidy in order to work outside.
Indulgence is made by taking great care and care of cleanliness
While making bhoga, you have to speak less and even if you speak, you should turn around on the other side so that the mouth does not fall in the prasad. The people making the prasad do not go wearing a ring, because the part of the prasad can get trapped in it and reach the juthan or fall down.
After completing the inside work, the hands are washed in the bucket there and the clothes are also left there so that part of the Prasad does not come out.
All this has to be completed by noon. After this the soup and the decorating are taken out towards Chhath Ghat. Shortly before sunset at Chhath Ghat, the fast is to be descended into water and before sunset every soup is offered to the Sun God and Arghya is offered.
People leave at 3 o’clock in the night for the morning
After offering the Arghya in the evening, the Prasad of the soup is removed and kept aside and then the same soup is cleaned and prepared for the morning Arghya. New offerings are placed in it and the ghat is punished by arriving an hour before sunrise. It is called the Argo of dawn. This time it is on the 21st.
The better the Vrati can get into the water before sunrise and worship the sixth Maia, the better. After worshiping at the ghat, people touch their feet as soon as they leave the water source. They wash their clothes and take blessings. Whatever the fast is, a Prasad is received from it.
