Tuesday, March 9 is the Ekadashi of the Krishna Paksha of Phalgun month. The Ekadashi Mahatmya chapter in the Vaishnava section of Skanda Purana describes all the Ekadashis of the year. Ekadashi of Falgun Krishna Paksha is called Vijaya Ekadashi. If you have to do some big work then by fasting on this date you can get victory in that work. On this day, Tulsi should also be worshiped after sunset. Light a lamp near Tulsi and do a circumambulation.
According to Pt. Manish Sharma, Jyotishacharya of Ujjain, Lord Shri Ram also observed the fast of Vijaya Ekadashi. The legend is prevalent in this regard that Ravana took Devi Sita to Lanka. Then Shriram wanted to cross the sea with the army of monkeys and reach Lanka. At that time there was no way of crossing the sea. Then Bakdalabhya Muni told Shri Ram that by observing the fast of Vijaya Ekadashi, you can get victory in everything. Then Shriram fasted Vijaya Ekadashi and crossed the sea and killed Ravana.
What auspiciousness can be done on this Ekadashi?
A fast should be observed for Lord Vishnu on this day. On this day, according to your ability, donate money and food grains to the needy people. Seven types of grains should be kept in worship. Install a water urn on the grain. Garnish the urn with mango or ashoka leaves.
Install the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu. Also, keep an idol or photo of Goddess Lakshmi. Do the Lord’s anointing with saffron mixed milk. Offer yellow flowers, fruits, basil etc. Perform Aarti by lighting incense and lamps.
Offer water and milk on Shivling on these days. Apply Tilak with sandalwood. Offer necklaces. Also offer bilva patra, datura, figure flowers. Offer enjoyment Perform Aarti by lighting incense and lamps.
Recite Hanuman Chalisa by lighting a lamp in front of Hanumanji. Due to Ekadashi on Tuesday, one should worship for Mars on this day. Mangal is worshiped only in the form of Shivalinga. Offer red gulal, red rose on Shivling. Donate lentils to Mars.
