On 5 January, the NDRF team has gathered on Saturday in search of a young man who jumped into the Kelagagh Dam. When the young man’s body could not be recovered with the help of local divers, the NDRF was informed. The young man made a video call to his younger sister. After some time, the young man jumped into the dam after cutting the call. However, it is still unclear why the young man did this.
The young man was identified as 24-year-old Saurabh. On Friday evening, at 4:15 pm, Saurabh called his sister Chhoti, who has gone to her aunt’s house in Gaya Bihar and said, “Call the video, see your face.” When his sister called the video, he was seen sitting near Saurabh Kelagagh Dam. Saurabh reached the dam from Scooty.
Saurabh stared at the video call without looking at the sister’s face and then cut off the call and jumped into the dam. At that time, some women who had gone to visit Kelagagh saw Saurabh leaping into the dam and immediately reported it to the TOP located there.
The ToP in-charge immediately ran towards the dam but by then Saurabh had drowned. SP Dr Shams Tabrez and SDPO Rajkishore also reached the spot and inquired. He spoke to the officer in charge of the NDRF team to find the body.
