- According to Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran, diseases are eliminated by worshiping the moon
For Indian Hindu women, the fast of Karva Chauth is considered auspicious. Today this fast is being done. Married women celebrate the fast by offering Arghya to Lord Moon on this day by wishing them for their husband’s long life and good health. This fast is observed on Chandrodayavapini Chaturthi of Kartik Krishna. In Vamana Purana, it is mentioned by the name of Karak Chaturthi Vrat.
This fast is done without drinking water
There is a law to keep Nirjala fast in the fast of Karvachauth, that is, during this fast, even water is not taken for the whole day. Rigorous worship seeks to please God with a fast, so that Shiva and Parvatiji can get their couple’s blessings to live together. Patients, pregnant, lactating women can take milk, tea, etc. during the day.
Fasting is accomplished by worshiping Karve and Shiva family
Karva means earthen vessel and Chauth means Chaturthi day. On this day, women buy a new make and bring it and decorate it beautifully. On the day of Karva Chauth, women wake up before sunrise and start a fast by eating a sargi. After this, Lord Ganesha, Shiva and mother Parvati are worshiped from early in the morning. During the day, idols of Gaura-Shiva and Ganesha are made with pure yellow clay. Then install them by laying a red cloth. In the evening, elders of the house or Panditji tell everyone the story of Karva Chauth. After this, in the evening, seeing the moon with a sieve, and taking the husband’s arti, she opens her fast.
Flow of divine qualities in flora
According to Srimad Bhagavat Mahapuran, the moon is considered to be the god of medicine. The moon with its snow rays carries divine qualities in all flora. All the vegetation gets medicinal properties on the basis of its elements, which cures diseases and thereby the husband and wife also get the medicinal properties of the auspicious rays of the moon while offering arghya. Love and dedication remains between the two.
