Ganesh Chaturthi, the main festival of Lord Shri Ganesh, is on 22 April, Saturday in this year i.e. 2020. According to the recognition, Ganesha was born on Borth of Shree Ganesh Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha Chaturthi in the mid-day period, on Monday, Swati Nakshatra and Singh Lagna. Presently, Ganesh Utsav is celebrated for 10 days after the birth of Shri Ganesh i.e. Ganesh Chaturthi.
Ganesh ji’s festival begins with the worship of Lord Ganesha by installing the Ganapati idol on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month and keeping Bappa at home for ten consecutive days and bid farewell to Bappa on Anant Chaturdashi.
In fact, when Ganesh Parva was started by Bal Gangadhar Tilak, a freedom fighter fighter before independence, to unite people across the country and awaken devotion among the people. At the same time, a Brahmin family established the first Ganesh temple in the capital near an old settlement in present-day Chhattisgarh.
Statues were brought from bullock cart
It is said that 100 years ago there was no train facility to go from Raipur to Banaras. At that time the idol of Lord Shriganesh was brought after traveling for months in a bullock cart.
Thousands of villagers used to visit: When the Ganesh Utsav started in the country, thousands of villagers used to come from the surrounding villages, Shish was the first to visit this temple to see the Ganesh festival festival celebrated in the old settlement.
In this temple, the freedom lovers used to make plans to liberate the country and after bowing their heads to Lord Shrinesh, they used to go out to spread consciousness in the mind of the people. It is the only Ganesh temple in the capital Raipur, which has been established for 100 years.

Know who built the temple…
It is said that this temple was built by the late Dharmadhwaj Shastri. Since there were famous temples such as the historic Jaitasava Monastery, Dudhadhari Math, Nagaridas Math, where the idols of Lord Shri Ram, Sita, Lakshmana, Hanuman were there, but there was not a single temple of the first revered Sriganesh, hence the freedom fighter, The call of Balgangadhar Tilak effected and the Sriganesh temple was established.
Bhajan continues every 100 years on Sunday
Members of Maithil Brahmin Samaj have been organizing bhajan-kirtan every Sunday in the temple for the last 100 years. Kirtan did not take place for two and a half months after the closure of the shrine due to the Corona epidemic. Now some people are following the tradition once the temple opens.
