Indra got angry and said- ‘Bad Gandharva! You, whose memory is cool, will be demonic. ‘ On hearing this Gandharva got very nervous and started apologizing to Indra. When Indra did not say anything, he went to his place. Upon seeing him there, he met his wife as a vampire and both the husband and wife became vampires and wandered around.
After this, he made many efforts to curse retirement but all failed. Finally he sat down. Suddenly one day he met Devarishi Narada. So they asked the reason for their sorrow. Gandharva told everything as it happened.
Knowing about his grief, Narada asked him to observe Jaya Ekadashi of Magh Shukla Paksha. Hearing this, Gandharva said – ‘Month! How can I do this fast by staying in this vampire vagina? Then the devarishya, by virtue of himself, fasted and worshiped Jaya Ekadashi and donated his virtues for both the Gandharvas. As soon as this virtue was met, both of them returned to their former form and thanked Narada ji. Then both of them started doing Jaya Ekadashi fast every year.
