Pradosh Vrat Pooja Method-
Pradosh Vrat is worshiped 45 minutes before sunset and 45 minutes after sunset. This is called Pradosh Kaal. In the meantime, sit for worship after bathing. Offer sandalwood, flowers, akshat, incense, dakshina and naivedya to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. Women should offer Lal Chunri and Suhaag items to Maa Parvati. It is considered auspicious to offer the goods of makeup to Maa Parvati.
Mercury Pradosh fast story-
According to the story of Budh Pradosh Vrat, a man was newly married. After 2 days of marriage his wife went to maiden. After a few days he went to her to pick up the male wife. When he returned with his wife on Wednesday, the in-laws tried to stop him saying that Wednesday was not auspicious for the farewell. But he did not agree and went with his wife.
On reaching outside the city, the wife felt thirsty. The man took a lota and started searching for water. The wife sat under a tree. After some time the man returned with water, then he saw that his wife was talking with someone laughing and drinking water from his lotus. He got angry.
When he came near, there was no place for his surprise, because the appearance of that man was like that. The wife also got into thinking. Both men started quarreling. A crowd had collected. Seeing the same men, they too were surprised. He asked the woman, ‘Who is her husband?’ She lost her duty.
Then that man started praying to Lord Shankar- ‘O Lord! Protect us I made a big mistake that I did not listen to my mother-in-law and on Wednesday got my wife off. I will never do this in future. ‘
As soon as his prayer was complete, another man disappeared. The husband and wife reached their home safely. From that day onwards, the husband and wife started observing the fast of Mercury Trayodashi Pradosh.
