- Chant the mantra of the sun, Om Surya Namah, Om Mitraaya Namah, Om Bhaskarai Namah, or Om Adityaaya Namah, at least 108 times.
The Mahaparava of Surya Puja on Thursday, January 14 is Makar Sankranti and Uttarayan. Surya is considered one of the five deities and the king of the nine planets. In the Bhavishya Purana, Shri Krishna told his son Samb the importance of sun worship. Sun should be worshiped daily. Astrology holds that the auspicious and inauspicious position of the Sun planet in the horoscope also has a good or bad effect on our lives. People who have auspicious position of the Sun in their horoscope get respect in society.
According to Pt. Manish Sharma, Jyotishacharya of Ujjain, do special worship of Sun on Makar Sankranti. Do chanting the mantra at least 108 times.
Keep these things in mind while doing sun worship
Offer water to Lord Surya after morning bath on Makar Sankranti. For this, fill water in a copper pot. Offer rice, flowers in a lotus and offer it to the sun.
After offering water, recite Surya Mantra. With this lesson, wish for strength, intelligence, health and respect.

Light incense, lamps in front of the sun idol or in the temple of the house while meditating on the sun. Worship the sun. On this day, donate things related to the sun such as copper utensils, yellow or red cloth, wheat, jaggery, rubies, red sandalwood etc.
