TARKESHWAR MAHADEV TEMPLE of UTTARAKHAND : Amazing Story

Bringing mustard oil and shawl leaves here is forbidden…

In India, Sanatan Dharma has the largest number of believers, so Sanatan Dharma has crores of temples of 33 koti devas across the country due to the worship of Gods in temples. In such a situation, there are a lot of holy temples and sites on the holy land of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is also known as the Tapasthali of Mahadev Shiva. Lord Shiva resides on this earth. At this place, there is a very beautiful temple of Lord Shiva.

It is believed that God fulfills every vow sought in this temple. Every year lakhs of devotees come not only from the country but also from abroad. There is also a very interesting story hidden behind this temple.

The specialty of the temple …
This Tadkeshwar Mahadev temple of Lord Shiva is one of the Siddha Peethas. Surrounded by oaks of oak and deodar, this temple is very pleasant to see. Many small waterfalls also flow here. You can see this temple here from 8 am to 5 pm on any day, but the view here on Mahashivratri is amazing. Special poojas are organized here on this occasion.

Along with this there is also a pool in the temple premises. Regarding which it is believed that this tank was dug by Mata Lakshmi herself. Presently, the holy water of this tank is used for the Jalabhisheka of Shivalinga. According to Jansruti, bringing mustard oil and shawl leaves is prohibited here.

According to mythology, the demon named Tadakasura did penance at this place to get the boon of immortality from Lord Shiva. After getting a boon from Shiva, Tarakasur became tyrannical. Distressed, the gods and sages prayed to Lord Shiva and asked them to end the Tarakasura.

Only Tarakasura could end Kartikeya, the son of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. On the orders of Lord Shiva, Karthikeya reached to fight with Tarakasura. In such a situation, knowing his end near, Tarakasura apologizes to Lord Shiva.

Because of which Bholenath forgives Asuraraj Tarakasura and gives a boon that I will be worshiped at this place in Kaliyuga in your name, hence Lord Bholenath is called Tadakeshwar here in the name of Asuraraj Tarakasura. At the same time, another legend of this temple is also famous here, according to which a monk used to live here who used to punish those who persecute the nearby animal birds. This temple was known as Tadkeshwar by his name.

At the same time, it is also believed that Lord Shiva rested here after the war with Tarkasur and killed him by Kartikeya. During the rest, the sun shone on Lord Shiva. Goddess Parvati herself appeared in the form of seven cedar trees to cast a shadow on Lord Shiva. Therefore, even today, 7 cedar trees located near the temple are worshiped as the form of Goddess Parvati.
